अमेरिकेतील नॅशनल इंटेलिजेन्सचे संचालक डॅन कोट्स यांनी सांगितल्याप्रमाणे, पाकिस्तानच्या दहशतवादविरोधी मोहिमा नावापुरत्या ठरल्या आहेत. त्यांनी दहशतवादविरोधात प्रभावी कामगिरी केलेली नाही. केवळ पाकिस्तानला धोका असलेल्या दहशतवद्यांवरच तेथील लष्कर आणि पोलिस कारवाई करत असतात. त्यांनी परदेशात हल्ले करणाऱ्या दहशतवादी संघटनांवर दुर्लक्ष केले. त्याचाच फटका भारत आणि अमेरिकेला बसू शकतो.

अमेरिकेतील नॅशनल इंटेलिजेन्सचे संचालक डॅन कोट्स म्हणाले, ”भारतात लोकसभा निवडणुकीच्या दरम्यान जातीय हिंसाचार भडकू शकतो. तसेच अफगाणिस्तानात जुलै महिन्यात राष्ट्राध्यक्ष निवडणूक आहे. अशात तालिबान मोठ्या प्रमाणात दहशतवादी हल्ले घडवण्याच्या तयारीत आहे. 2019 मध्ये दक्षिण आशियाई देशांमध्ये वाढते दहशतवादी हल्ले एक मोठे आव्हान ठरणार आहे.” यासोबतच भारत आणि चीनमध्ये बिघडणारे परराष्ट्र संबंध आणखी वाइट होतील. पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी आणि चीनचे अध्यक्ष शी जिनपिंग यांच्यात तणाव वाढेल असेही कोट्स यांनी सांगितले आहे.

अमेरिकेतील गुप्तचर विभागाशी संबंधित विशेष संसदीय समितीसमोर कोट्स यांनी ही माहिती दिली आहे. ते म्हणाले, की भारत आणि अफगाणिस्तानसह अमेरिकेत सुद्धा पाकिस्तान समर्थक दहशतवादी संघटना हल्ल्याच्या तयारीत आहेत. त्यांनी यापूर्वीही हल्ले केले आणि पुढे सुद्धा हल्ले होण्याची शक्यता आहे. या सर्वच दहशतवादी संघटना इतर देशांवर हल्ले करण्यासाठी पाकिस्तानच्या जमीनीचा वापर करतात. त्यांनी यासंदर्भातील एक रिपोर्ट सुद्धा संसदीय समितीला सुपूर्द केली आहे.
