पुण्यात २००७ मध्ये एका बी.पी.ओ. कर्मचाऱ्यावर बलात्कार करून तिची हत्या करण्यात आली होती. त्याप्रकरणातील दोघा दोषींना २४ जून रोजी फाशी देण्यात येणार आहे. त्याबाबतचे वॉरण्ट बजावण्यात आले आहे. राष्ट्रपतींनी दोन वर्षांपूर्वी या दोघांचा दयेचा अर्ज फेटाळला होता.या आरोपींची नावे पुरुषोत्तम बोराटे (३६) आणि प्रदीप कोकडे (३१) अशी आहेत. पुणे मे.जिल्हा आणि सत्रप्रधान न्यायाधीशांनी १० एप्रिल रोजी यासंबंधीचे वॉरण्ट जारी केले. मे.सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने ८ मे २०१५ रोजी या दोघांच्या फाशीवर शिक्कामोर्तब केले होते. सध्या हे दोघे पुण्यातील येरवडा कारागृहात आहेत.बोराटे याच्या नावावर वॉरण्ट जारी करण्यात आले असून येरवडा मध्यवर्ती कारागृहाच्या मुख्य अधिकाऱ्याला फाशीची अंमलबजावणी करण्याचे अधिकार देण्यात आले आहेत. कोकडे याच्यावरही अशाच प्रकारचे वॉरण्ट बजावण्यात आले आहे.पीडित महिला मूळची गोरखपूरची होती. नोकरीच्या अखेरच्या दिवशी बोराडे आणि कोकडे यांनी तिला तिच्या घरातून कार्यालयात नेण्यासाठी कंपनीच्या गाडीत बसविले. मात्र दुसऱ्या दिवशी ती घरी न आल्याने तिच्या नातेवाईकांनी पोलिसांकडे ती बेपत्ता झाल्याची तक्रार नोंदविली होती. तिचा मृतदेह पोलिसांना २ नोव्हेंबर २००७ रोजी गहुंजे येथे आढळला होता. या प्रकरणी बोराडे आणि कोकडे यांना अटक करण्यात आली होती.मार्च २०१२ मध्ये पुणे मे.सत्र न्यायालयाने दोघांना दोषी ठरविले आणि फाशीची शिक्षा ठोठावली. मे.मुंबई उच्च न्यायालयाने आणि त्यानंतर मे.सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने ही शिक्षा कायम ठेवली. राज्यपाल सी. विद्यासागर राव यांनी दोषींचा दयेचा अर्ज फेटाळला होता. मुंबईतील बॉम्बस्फोट प्रकरणी ३० जुलै २०१५ रोजी याकूब मेमन याला फाशी देण्यात आले होते. त्यानंतर राज्यात या दोघांना फाशी देण्यात येणार आहे.
